what *is* homefolk's housing model?

homefolk housing uk cic is a social enterprise dedicated to addressing the housing crisis through its innovative 'homefolk model' for community-owned tiny home villages

our model leverages marginal spaces in urban areas to create affordable and sustainable housing solutions that prioritise community, health, and environmental sustainability. we are currently in the process of developing a pilot site in london's east end to showcase the feasibility and impact of our model

"homefolk's big idea could revolutionise housing"

developed by law students at Glasgow university, our bespoke layered legal model aims to prevent the speculation and financialisation of homes when bought and sold to ensure our homes remain affordable in perpetuity

homefolk's model could provide homes at est.: Β£50,000 per resident. early feasibility studies done by our group suggest high potential to add density in a borough like Hackney, using just 5% of the borough's paved surface area, this would mean almost 20,000 homes using homefolk's model

our urban re-greening agenda aims to reduce urban heat island effect, combat  nature deprivation and provide community amenities including rainwater harvesting and new allotment spaces for food growing

this new model for housing aims to increase diversity and density of housing, in existing desirable city spaces, without demolishing or removing the existing cityscape. the model combines a new approach to site, ownership and a tinyhome co-living concept
utilising marginal paved commons sites (not currently seen as usable for housing) off-site construction & urban regreening, we want to create a rapidly scalable model could provide tens of thousands of genuinely affordable new community-owned homes in cities
