who are we? & what is the vibe

meet some of the volunteering community past and present to get an idea of what volunteering at homefolk is like

why pair working?

in this video jamie and amy explain how volunteering at homefolk is different from more individualistic (and burn-out prone!) volunteering

volunteering style🌟

caring community = no-burnout πŸ’š

caring community = no-burnout πŸ’š

how can we work on the housing crisis, but also have a hecking great time?

working in teams, partnerships and 2-to-1 volunteers for roles makes everything more social & builds resilience for us to work with more flexibility/humanly

different working groups work in seasons, largely online but also in-situ (eg. around student term timetable/ around various project checkpoints), with space and flex for busy and quiet periods

caring community = no-burnout πŸ’š

caring community = no-burnout πŸ’š

caring community = no-burnout πŸ’š

homefolk from day one has operated on a strict no-burnout policy & we see our healthy volunteering community as an equal priority to healthy (tinyhome) community as our ends

as legal volunteer ben put it, "what makes homefolk unique is our working culture; and a strong emphasis on looking after our own mental health"

if we're going to try and solve the housing crisis, it's essential we have fun doing it :)

with each new step along our journey, we've identified how new volunteering roles can help us get to our goal: a new model for affordable housing

the strategy team at homefolk is a space where big dreamers answer big questions 🧠✨ they're the crew who help us zoom out and plot the path from one tiny home to thousands (no pressure, right?). we huddle up to chat big picture stuffβ€”like how we grow, who we team up with, and how we keep things kind, green and grounded. think of them as the compass that keeps homefolk pointed towards a future where everyone’s got a cosy, affordable place to call home πŸ‘πŸ’›
